Overparenting, buttermilk pancakes and Spotify playlists

in feel good friday

Around our house, we’ve been listening to this little playlist we like to call “Mercy in the Storm.” Thanks to Spotify, you can listen too.

Rage Against the Minivan recommended these shoes. I want them. They kinda look like Tom’s. Obviously I’m still having issues.

Welcome to the Age of Overparenting.

In an attempt to not overparent, we’ve ordered a playpen for lil’ Miss Independent. It arrives next week. Anna likes her alone time, and I like my sanity. A win for everyone. I realize that some of you are thinking this purchase is definitely the epitome of overparenting. Whatevs.

Is Facebook making us lonely? I’d say no…but I would say it’s making us narcissistic.

Does your neighborhood have an impact on your health? Of course.

We’re going to Sactomofo this weekend. Food truck extravaganza time! Yessssss. We’re also going to work on our front and back yards. Our old stumps have been removed this week. It’s time to build a retaining wall, get some tomatoes in the ground, and do major weeding. If only I could get my mom up here….

I went to my friend Allison’s for dinner on Tuesday. She made bruschetta. I was like, “HOW DID YOU MAKE THIS?” and she said, “Trader Joe’s–and then add capers.” I am so copying this idea.

Andrea has me inspired to make her buttermilk oatmeal pancakes tomorrow morning. Those two crazy kids have installed six new beds in their garden, so naturally I’m hoping her power pancakes will rub off somehow on us.
