“How do we, as a denomination, do renewal and outreach in the emerging post-everything United States culture? “Post-everything” people are those who are now in their teens and twenties – and they are our future.” -Timothy Keller

My aunt Kristen posed a great question to me last week that has made me think quite a bit. She asked if I knew much about the “emerging church”. Truthfully, I didn’t. I’ve heard the term. I know its connected with my generation. I know its controversial in some senses. This week I’ve done only the tip of the iceberg of research and talked to a few friends and Jonathan’s dad, Steve, about their thoughts. I’m going to be lazy and post an article I found when researching Tim Keller, a pastor at Redeemer Presbyterian Church in New York City. Steve actually recommended this church back in the fall to Jenny and Chris (our friends in New York City). Reverend Keller preaches the gospel and preaches sound doctrine while still facing our generation, and its issues and complexities. Read it and let me know what you think!
