About

Hi, I’m Lesley! I’m the girl in the picture above, but I don’t always look that put together. In fact, I’m writing this “About” section while wearing sweatpants covered in baby poop and spit-up. I haven’t showered yet today. I’ll get to that later.
This blog is my little place in the world to write, to dream, to be creative. I started blogging in fall 2006 when I moved to Sacramento from Santa Barbara, CA. I was unemployed and a little bit lonely so I began to write. Through the defining years of my twenties, this blog has allowed me to think differently, connect with new friends, and share my perspective on the world while growing in my career and my marriage.
Since 2006, a lot has happened in my life. I got a great job at local marketing agency where I stayed very busy for several years. Jonathan attended and graduated law school, and then landed a great job at a firm in Roseville. (So, much to all of our parents dismay, we stayed in Sacramento!) We saved up to buy a house, then I got pregnant, and then we remodeled our kitchen…all at the same time. Anna arrived in July 2011 and I decided to quit my desk job to pursue writing and motherhood–two dreams I’d been hoping to chase since I was a little girl. (Read about that decision here.) Amidst all of this busy joy, we received sobering news in November 2011 that Jonathan has cancer. He was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma when Anna was 3 months old, and is currently going through chemotherapy. We hope he will be in remission by her first birthday. Here are my loves:
Needless to say, if you’ve stumbled across this little space, you’re certainly in for a wide range of topics. This is me- living my life and writing my way through it.
Please, please, please say hi! I love comments and e-mails. Thank you for being my audience, and for allowing me a place to be me.
