…A peak at what I’ve been into this past month besides unpacking and working and making peanut butter and jelly sandwiches…
Books: You guys… apparently I don’t read anymore. Does anyone else have a hard time getting through books when children are (literally) running through your legs? I mean, I couldn’t even make it through the Southwest Airlines magazine despite being on board a plane for over 12 hours total. Here are the books I didn’t finish in April: Loving the Little Years: Motherhood in the Trenches/ More or Less: Choosing a Lifestyle of Excessive Generosity/ And the Mountains Echoed: A Novel
Music: My 2014 Music list can be found here. I’m into that dang Happy song this month, and Jack Johnson’s Home, and the Lower Lights (a Mormon group which is quite good!)
TV/Movies: Our DVD player broke, oh, about a year ago, so we’re always behind on movies. Vacation gave us a chance to catch up. It was really fun to sit in a big dark house while lightening and thunder raged outside. I highly recommend 12 Years a Slave but you’ll hate it. We also saw The Book Thief (really good!) and Catching Fire.
Wearing: Thanks to the J.Crew Factory store in Nag’s Head, North Carolina, I now own this pair of ankle jeans. My sister-in-law Sarah had to talk me into the purchase because after years spent wearing my pants too short, it was really hard to buy a pair of ankle jeans. Like, really hard. Tall girls and ankle jeans … it can be done! Also, did you know J. Crew has an online factory store? The in-store prices seem to be better, but still! Awesome, right?
A few purchases we made this month which I’ve loved: Nutiva Organic Chia Seeds (can’t wait to try this chocolate chia smoothie), Thermos Foogo Phases Leak Proof Straw Bottle (Anna’s new favorite), BabyGanics Cover Up Baby Moisturizing Sunscreen Spray (this sunscreen is rated well for it’s price, and I like that it comes in a non-aerosol spray. Easier to use without being worrisome for kids to inhale) Nu Derm Healthy Skin Protection SPF 35 (my sunscreen of choice–pricey but a little goes a long way) and matching teddy bear jammies for the kids (thanks, Gap outlet!)
Anticipating: a few slow weekends at home, the start of Anna’s swim lessons, hiking, and traveling to Utah for my grandpa’s memorial service.
