Tim's comment about the drybar made me laugh. I have always wanted to go to one of those-- I put it on my "to-do" list.

I really liked the Adoption article. The older I get and the more single I stay I think that fostering or adoption is not far off in my future. I've got lot of love to give :) This gave me even more to consider-- thank you!

So sorry for your loss, Lesley, but what a beautiful tribute you wrote to her. I hope you enjoyed your time with family celebrating her life.

(and I am definitely going to try that Mac n' Cheese!)

uh, yeah, adopted a kid because I wanted another kid. in all honesty, I never planned on giving birth to a child and always planned on adopting. my how things change! but yes, birthed one and adopted one. don't expect praise or sainthood for either act.

sending prayers for your grandma and your family! (((hugs))) and thanks for the smilies thinking about Anna running around!

Thanks for the shout out, Lesley!

Praying for you and the family and this weekend,

P.S. When I saw the paragraph on drybar, I thought it was a saloon for people who don't drink alcohol.

While I am not Christian, I fully relate to Megan's article about adopting children, not a cause. Simply because a person is Christian doesn't make them a good parent. Similarly, just because a person is a good parent doesn't mean they'll be a good adoptive parent. Adoption is not a romantic concept and it certainly shouldn't be a mission. The desire to adopt needs to come from the desire to be a parent, along with a realistic understanding of what it takes to be a healing parent. I, too, hear a lot that "(our) child will be so lucky to have (us) as parents." I know that the intentions of people who say those things are good, but if our child is anything, he/she certainly isn't lucky. I've totally taken note of the author's response... "I just tell her: I'm thankful to be a mom." I think I might start using that. :)

Thanks for sharing, Lesley!
