I often say, the thing I love most about my job is telling the stories worth telling. I get to be a voice for people who sometimes either don’t have one, or, don’t have access to media outlets who can tell their story LOUDER than they might be able to.
Kim Kaufman is one of those stories. I was introduced to Kim by chance last month. NBC was working with Tom Brokaw to produce a series about American Character Along Highway 50, and I got connected with a producer looking for inspiring people in Sacramento. A co-worker told me to talk to Kim. Her story broke my heart, because her story is literally about a broken heart–hers.
But, out of her broken heart, she is healing families and creating memories. For that, I feel warm and fuzzy inside.
