Shop Local this Christmas

I mentioned yesterday that my annual Black Friday shopping trip to Target was not quite as fun this year. What I didn’t mention was a new motivation to keep my spending at Target to a minimum.

Let me first say, I love everything about Target. Like many superstores, Target has a variety of items, with GREAT sales. I love sales.

However this Christmas, more than any year before, it’s really important to consider buying local. Buying local helps protect character of your city, keeps dollars in the local economy, and increases competion. (Read a few other reasons why you should buy local by visiting this page on Staylocal.org.)

Before I hit up Target yesterday, I visited M.E. Boutique, La Fete and The French Hen in East Sac. All of the stores were offering 20% sales. I won’t say who but someone in my family is getting an awesome Christmas present that I got 50% off. So, even when buying local you can score some great deals.

Think about it.
