The Luck of the Irish

in biking

I celebrated St. Patty’s Day by taking my new GREEN bike for a spin today. Although my baby Betsy is not a cruiser, she is beautiful, fast and big. By big, I mean extra large. Turns out I’m too tall for a women’s bike. In fact, I needed one of the bigger men’s bikes out there. If it isn’t my huge feet, it’s my long legs. The sacrifices I must make…

Anyway, I didn’t ride to work today, but Jonathan and I rode after work so that I could time my commute and get a feel for my new wheels. He’s been the best husband in the world, installing my head and tail lights and genuinely being excited and involved during my big purchase. I have loved his constant encouragment and help.

In other “riding” news, Camille took me out on Friday for a trail ride. I rode Hershey the horse, while she braved her beauty named Belle, a black animal with attitude. We had a great time at the stable and in the nature preserve. Turns out West Sacramento is really beautiful– I enjoyed seeing all the vineyars, the winding river and acres and acres of open farmland. It was the perfect way to spend my day off work!
