Well, there is one thing that Obama has on Hillary this week— a Grammy! Yes, wacky news of the day: Obama took home the award for best spoken-word album for The Audacity of Hope: Thoughts on Reclaiming the American Dream.
I’m watching the Grammy’s right now actually. My favorite part: Beyonce and Tina’s duet. Dang, they both have legs! And moves!
The most annoying part of the evening so far has been Amy Winehouse winning two awards including Song of the Year- Rehab. Does anyone else find it sad that we’re awarding a girl that’s currently in rehab, for writing a song about how she won’t go? Sort of ironic… I won’t lie, the song is catchy, poppy and fun. But it is sad to me how lightly we treat addictions to drugs and alcohol.

Watching Kanye’s sad sad song right now and concluding that he is, in fact, “Stronger.”

the entertainment industry, as is obvious, does take alcohol and drugs and addictions too lightly. i hope that is turning a corner, as i think we’re seeing a little evidence to, due to Heath’s death. but to create a great and musically original album like Amy Winehouse did took a great deal of talent and effort. unfortunately, she has the disease of addiction. and while that is not to excuse any her of her actions, i don’t think she should be excluded from winning awards for her talent because of it. i had the same initial thoughts as you, but ultimately i think it would be a tricky line to draw to start withholding awards for merit if the awardee is dealing with serious personal issues. i personally would have picked kanye for record of the year, although his bragging nature is also something that makes me hesitate in thinking he deserves it!
Obama won an Emmy because of liberal Hollywood, just like Al Gore.
No surprises here.
