Watching the sun slip away…

Our long awaited trip to Aunt Lynn and Uncle Bill’s house on the Big Island is now officially over but we are still giggly over how much fun we had together. It’s wonderful to be away from a computer, cell phone, work, stress, traffic and early mornings. Instead, we slept in, read lots of books, kayaked, snorkled, ate a few great meals, drank pina coladas, watched the sunset and talked about marriage and our future. It is amazing how a little time away can encourage even deeper and more meaningful conversation.
For anyone concerned, we (obviously) managed to survive Hurricane Flossie as well as two earthquakes, a tsunami and (truthfully the scariest of all) a freak little wind storm while we were kayaking one morning. Jonathan was very encouraging during this little incident and told me after the fact that he couldn’t believe just how strong I was… hey, when a girl thinks she’s going to die, the adreniline really kicks in. My steel arms can go and go and go if they have to, it’s just that I just don’t usually like to make them work that hard. After we got into shore Jonathan agreed to run a half marathon with me this year. I’m not sure if he was intimidated by my super woman strength and feels the need to keep up but regardless, I’m happy.
Jonathan is t-minus four days until his second year starts and I’m about t-minus one hour away from my bed to amp up for my up coming weekend in Chicago for work. Good thing I snuck in a vacation before life gets busy again….

Hi Lesley, I'm related to Jonathan somehow. I think he's a second cousin. I'm a Friesen and Alyson and Andrea (from Oregon, which is how I found your blog) are my second cousins so I think Jonathan is a second cousin ;) I recognize him but I think the last time I saw him was pre-teen years. Wow! You two are super cute! Good job running! I picked it up a few years ago and am training for a marathon, yikes! Oh, I think Jonathan might know my cousin Michael Larlee who went to Westmont, not sure though.
