Since I’m in public relations it’s really important for me to keep up on the news because it’s my job. A lot of people don’t know what public relations means but basically it is making sure my company, and the companies that hire us, maintain a positive image through media coverage. I also need to make sure that if my client is in the news for something bad– low sales or a corporate scandal or something– that I know about it and try to downplay the problem.

Each morning I come into the office and glance through all of the headlines for our clients and also try to see what reporters are covering so that when I pitch them for stories, I know who writes about what. Make sense? Anyway, when I was reading the paper this week I came across the picture, above, of three little Iraqi sisters taking a bath. The picture is recent, taken last Monday, and I think it’s adorable. It’s strange to think that the little one, who looks two maybe (?) has only known war. The older child, front, looks a little mischievious and the other sister, hiding in the shadow, is the shy one. To me, they might as well be Sacramento kids living on my street… the bond of family and love is so universal, and so recognizable.
